How My Guide uses the small amount of information you give us, and the choices you have. In short: we collect as little as possible, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Who we are

My Guide (www.my-guide.co.uk) is run by Ikon Comms Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17119071). Our registered office is 20 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU. Ikon Comms Ltd is the data controller for the information described here. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZC193547.

What we collect, and why

  • Messages you send us. If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address and message, so we can reply. We use them only to answer you.
  • News and updates, only if you ask. If you tick the box to sign up for news, we use your email address to send occasional updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Survey answers. If you answer one of our short surveys, we receive your answers. Giving your email address is optional, and if you do, we use it only for the reason stated next to the question.
  • Basic website statistics. If you accept cookies, our website platform counts visits and which pages are read, so we know which guides are useful. We don't use advertising cookies.
  • Things you type into our tools. The fridge sheet saves what you type in your own browser only. It is never sent to us.

The legal basis for handling messages and survey answers is our legitimate interest in replying to you and improving our guides. For news emails and statistics cookies, it is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who else sees it

We never sell your information or share it for marketing. A few trusted companies process it on our behalf:

  • Squarespace hosts this website and stores form messages and survey answers.
  • Google provides reCAPTCHA, which checks that forms are sent by people rather than spam robots, and the fonts used on this site.

Some of these companies store information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved for UK data, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Contact messages: up to 2 years, then deleted.
  • Survey answers and optional email addresses: up to 12 months after the survey closes, then deleted.
  • News sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Just get in touch. We'll reply within one month, and there is no charge.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
